Obituary for Diane Tzar

Diane Tzar
With great sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Diane, age 76, on Wednesday July 27, 2016, with family at her side. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph, her grandchildren Felicia (Stewart), Brent (Christine), great-grandchildren Mason and Jake, son-in-law Garry (Nielle), her sisters and brothers, Emily, Steve (Betty), Tommy (Lydia), Glen (Sheila), Kenny (Norma), Maria (Dennis), along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah (2010), parents Harry (1991), Mary (2008), sister Irene (2010), brothers-in-law Stanley (1966) and Michael (2013), and two brothers Johnnie and Theodore who died in infancy.

Diane was born to Mary and Harry Ambrose in Rembrandt in 1939. She married Joe in 1956 and they moved to Winnipeg, where their daughter Deborah was born. In the early 1960's, they bought their first home on Ingersoll Street. They continued to call a number of places home until they settled in Meleb in 1992. Diane held numerous jobs over her lifetime in retail, real estate, and the restaurant industry. Together, Diane and Joe owned two restaurants – Burger World in the Maples and then D&J Restaurant in Arborg.

Diane was well known for her musical talents. She played the violin, keyboard and guitar, and regularly sang in the church choir at church events. Diane was also very active in the community. She spent a number of years involved in various aspects of the Fraserwood Hall, running Friday night Bingo and spending countless hours in the kitchen.

Diane enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She made the best perogies, holubtsi, and studenetz, and was always making delicious desserts. She would bake beautiful and intricate korovai for weddings and anniversaries.

Diane will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family thanks the staff at the Arborg & District Health Centre for the kindness and compassion shown to Diane during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday August 1, 2016 at Mackenzie Funeral Chapel in Teulon, with Father Peter Chorney and Father Isadore Dziadyk officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Brent Wasylowski and Stewart Wiltshire, and her brothers, Steve, Tommy, Glen and Kenny Ambrose.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Rembrandt, to Fraserwood Hall, or to a charity your of choice.
