Obituary for Gladys Elvera Hanisch

Gladys Elvera Hanisch
After a slow decline, Gladys passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of Sunday, September 11, 2016 in Goodwin Lodge at Teulon at the age of 84.

Born Gladys Elvera Hanisch on January 29, 1932 on the family homestead north of Teulon, Manitoba, (section ne3-17-1E), to parents Sigfrid (Fred) and Maggie. She remained on the farm her entire life to take care of her mother and her diabetic brother Harold. She was the youngest surviving child of a large family, who have all predeceased her; sisters Edie, Esther, Ellen, Elsie, Ethel and brother Harold. Gladys worked very hard her whole life, but also loved animals, the outdoors, fishing, camping, baking, crafts, music and time with her extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. She saw many things, but did not gossip about them; Gladys could always be trusted. She loved the people close to her with all her heart… and we felt that love. We love you and miss you Aunty Glady.

The family wish to thank the staff of Teulon Homecare, Tudor House in Selkirk, and Goodwin Lodge in Teulon for their kindness and support for Gladys’s in her later years.

Gladys will be laid to rest in Norris Lake Cemetery near the family homestead. As per her request, there will be a graveside service on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

Oh Lord I pray… “Light the way for me as I make my way through the garden to be with you forever”
