Obituary for Katie Helen Penner

It is with great regret we announce the passing of Katie Penner.
Katie was predeceased by her parents Henry and Katharina Penner and all of her siblings. George, Nick (Jane) , Erwin (Anna), Henry (Mary), Ellie (Richard), John (Marlene), Irma (Ray), Herb; two nephews Matthew Penner and Kurt Penner. Katie is survived by two sisters-in-law Mary (George) Penner and Lois (Herb) Penner, and 17 nieces and nephews.
Katie and twin sister Ellie were born December 13, 1931 in Teulon and spent their childhoods’ in the Hartley School District of Petersfield.
Katie was employed at King George Hospital and then moved to Calgary and worked in the health care field. Upon returning to Teulon, Katie was employed at the Teulon Hospital.
Katie enjoyed c & w music. Her favorites were The Carter Family, Chuckwagon Gang, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline.
Katie loved playing 4/10 whist, scrabble and cribbage. She was hard to beat and certainly did not appreciate being beaten.
Katie moved into Cedar Lodge in Teulon where she resided until her health deteriorated. She was admitted to Red River Place in Selkirk where she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
The family would like to personally thank her special friend Alice Weitzel, and all her caregivers through the years. The family thanks the wonderful staff who went above and beyond in providing for her well being at Red River Place.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon.
Interment will take place at a later date at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg alongside her parents.
