Obituary for Thomas Lloyd Robinson

Thomas Lloyd Robinson
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle, grampa and great-grampa, Thomas Lloyd Robinson (Robbie). He left us as the sun was setting Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents John and Nellie and, very recently, twin sister Lorraine. He will be forever loved and missed by his wife Muriel, son Darryl (Cathy) and daughter Denyse. He also leaves cherished grandchildren Tyler (Ashley), Kelsey (Johnathan), Andrew, Clay and Jeremy, as well as great-grandchildren Jay-Lynn, Christopher, Autumn, James, Austin and William. He is survived by brother Jack (Wilma), nieces Joelle (Brad) and Carla (John), brother-in-law Bob Taylor, nephew Scott (Sharon) and families. Lloyd was born in Portage la Prairie, August 18, 1935. He grew up on the family farm, where he came to appreciate the freedom of country living. Lloyd and Muriel married in 1958, and lived their early years in St. Norbert, Manitoba, later moving to Grosse Isle, St. Laurent and then finally back to the Grosse Isle area in 2011. Lloyd was employed with the Federal Government for over 30 years before retiring in 1993. Retirement was somewhat short lived when he and Muriel took over shopkeeping at the Woodlands General Store, an experience that grew many wonderful friendships and memories. Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, shooting, archery and hunting - all activities he took great pride in passing on to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lloyd loved his garden, and took great pleasure in growing fresh vegetables for everyone. In his later years, he enjoyed being on his "little farm", away from the city but not too far from his friends and family. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, his family will be hosting an open house and garden planting in early June, an event we know he would truly have loved. The family wishes to thank CancerCare Manitoba, Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital and Stonewall Home Care, as well as numerous family and friends for their ongoing care and support during a very difficult time for our family.
