Obituary for Kenneth David McEwen

Kenneth David McEwen
It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Kenneth David McEwen, at Seven Oaks Hospital on February 9, 2018. Ken was predeceased by his parents Kay and Arn McEwen. He is survived by his brothers – Gary (Barbara); Doug (Judy), and Stewart (Lynne) and his nieces and nephews: David, Allison, Steve, and Sarah (Jeremy), and special friends Mikki, Arlene, Kerrie, Bob, Tanyss, and Stuart
Ken was born in Winnipeg on September 16, 1947. He grew up on Hazeldell Ave. in East Kildonan. The Duke as he was known by the family, loved to play football or baseball on the street with all the neighbourhood kids. Ken grew up to become the cool dude. Ken left Winnipeg and moved to Vancouver where he had a variety of jobs. Finally establishing himself as a Lighting Product Specialist, at Wesco where he worked for 40 years before retiring and moving back to Winnipeg to be with his family.
Ken loved sports especially his NFL team the Minnesota Vikings. For over 40 years, Ken cheered for his beloved Vikings to no avail. He was so happy this year, when the Vikings made the playoffs.
As we know Ken loved the ladies. At any party, Ken would end up talking with all the women, because he found them more interesting.
Ken’s favourite spot in the fall time was going on trips out to Oak Hammock Marsh, he loved to see the geese flying over and reminded him of his hunting days, which he use to enjoy with his Grandpa, Dad and brothers Gary and Doug.
We would like to Thank the I.C.U. at Seven Oaks hospital, for the exceptional care and compassion they gave the family and friends.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held in Stonewall on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations in memory of Ken may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or Oak Hammond Marsh.
