Obituary for Roy Alexander Buchanan

Roy Alexander Buchanan
Peacefully with his family by his side, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Roy.
Roy leaves behind his devoted wife Sheila, children Doug (Glynis), and Cindy, his grand children Melodie (Arnie), Marcia (Chad), Marnie (Mark), Reanna (Wally), Chris, and Eirikka, 10 beautiful great grand children, one great great grandson, as well as many dearly loved family members, Sister in-law Ev, nieces, nephews, and truly great friends.
Roy was predeceased by his Mother Isabella, Father Alec, Sister Jean (Elbourne), Brothers Bill (Ethel) and Harvey (Audrey).
Roy joined the Winnipeg Police Department in 1951 where he proudly worked for nearly 34 years. Roy enjoyed many years with the Masonic Lodge and was a Past Master of the Empire Lodge No 127. Dad and Mom retired to the cottage at Ponemah in 1985, where he enjoyed lake life and curling in the winter. Soon after, Dad discovered his new passion of golf, and they moved closer to the Golf Course in Sandy hook. Dad and Mom enjoyed many winters in Weslaco Texas where the warm weather and love of golf continued. Dad’s biggest joy was his Family and Friends, which was paramount in his life. Whether near or far they were always close in his heart.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2pm at the Mackenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. The Rev Ron Haggland will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to: The Mood Disorders of Manitoba,
